The phenomenon of professional self-identification of professors of regional high schools in conditions the processes occurring in the higher school is considered in article. The complex approach to the analysis of statistics and results of empirical researches has allowed to formulate the reasons of a dissatisfaction of professors the position in a society, to allocate and describe models of behaviour of professors of high school in real practice, to formulate the offers directed on increase of scientific and pedagogical potential of high schools. The author uses the empirical data on a number of high schools in Ulyanovsk region.
